Grants Provided

Gem City Breakfast Kiwanis provides grants to organizations and programs designed to serve the children of the Quincy area and beyond.  During the past eight calendar years (2018-2025) we have provided $250,668, for an average of $31,333 per year. The largest amount in one year was $43,708 during 2024.
We have provided this funding through four types of assistance, as shown below.
1. Through our Annual Community Grant Day competitive application process, we provide funds for over 35 organizations per year that provide services and assistance for youth of the area.
2. Through the Sammy Fund & the Sammy Fund in the Community Foundation we provide funds for an additional over 20 organizations per year for helping youth.
3. Through funding of local Kiwanis programs for youth such as High School Key Club scholarships and Junior High School Builders Club activities.
4. Through contributions to the Kiwanis International Children’s Fund and the I-I District Kiwanis Neuroscience Research Foundation for projects dedicated to providing treatments and finding cures for diseases affecting primarily children.

Fund Raising:

We raise money to provide grants to organizations and programs that serve the children of the Quincy area and beyond in various ways including the four primary fund raisers we currently have and the anniversaries of when we began them:

Peanut Day (since 1981) - 44 years
Trivia Night (since 2006) - 19 years
Sammy & Kids Golf Outing (since 2015) - 10 years
Oakley-Lindsay Center Events Help (since 2018) - 7 years

Thank you to all the individuals and organizations who have supported and participated in our fund-raising activities and events.  Without you we would not be able to provide grants to organizations and programs that serve the children of the Quincy area.
